It all began in 1991, in the midst of Australia’s worst recession since the Great Depression, operating from our home unit at Holden Hill in the north east of Adelaide. Crazy? Naive? Maybe, but our logic was if our business can survive during a recession, it’ll survive anything.
Our first computer was a MacIntosh IIci, the absolute Rolls Royce of the day, with a whopping 8MB of RAM and a price tag in excess of $8,000.00… not including the black and white monitor! Other equipment included a black and white A4 laser printer and an A4 black and white flatbed scanner. We quickly out grew the home office and relocated to a more respectable set-up with an office at Prospect just north of the CBD. Our workload was predominantly producing publications like magazines and newsletters, with a small amount of label design work. Soon enough the label design side of the business grew and quickly became one of our specialties.
In 2002 we moved from Prospect to Glynde in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide where we developed a large client base around label and packaging design. Through this we acquired the knowledge essential to work in this specialised industry, equipping us with skills that made us standout and created a point of difference to many other graphic designers.
